Our Bitumen is graded on stiffness (penetration in tenths of a mm of a 100g needle dropped onto a bitumen sample for 5 seconds at 25°C and softening point). Lower penetration value bitumen is therefore stiffer. Lower penetration bitumen also has higher softening temperatures compared to higher penetration grades. Commonly used bitumen grades in the UK are 40/60 pen, 70/100 pen, 100/150 pen, and 160/220 pen. 100/150 pen bitumen is the preferred grade for most applications in the UK, although 40/60 is used for heavily trafficked roads, and 160/220 is often used for hand lay work as it is easier to apply. We offer eleven grades in our Bitumen range; these grades are used in different applications according to the industry specifications. We are also capable of manufacturing any specific penetration grades according to your specifications. Our Bitumen is delivered in drums and tankers through our logistics network directly to your plant, project or any other destinations.

Without hard paving, access may be difficult to the airfield, flying may be restricted in inclement weather or the facilities may not come up to the minimum standards required by the regulatory authorities for passenger carrying aircraft.

In the United Kingdom, the construction and surfacing of military airfields is the responsibility of the Ministry of Defence, whilst responsibility for the civil airports rests with the British Airports Authority or municipal authorities. Our specifications have met the standards for these organizations.

Deficit budgets are forcing pavement engineers to preserve the value of their highway asset by using high quality materials that extend maintenance periods and treat cracking and water penetration in a cost‐effective manner. A22 at Hailsham was a project that had suffered from cracks and potholes in low temperatures causing from low quality bitumen. After our investigations with the pavement engineers, we supplied the materials for resurfacing the A22 at Hailsham. The project was completed in 2013 with the satisfaction of the Highway agency to present.

In the last two years the prices of oil has dropped by nearly 70%. This has had a significant impact on our bitumen products prices. It is now the greatest time for consumers to take advantages of the low prices in our petroleum products. We have supplied 1 million tonnes of bitumen to our worldwide customers in 2015. Most of our products have been used in production of asphalt.
